Temporary contract | 24 months | BelvalAre you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join usThe Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment and IT. By transforming scientific knowledge into technologies, smart data and tools, LIST empowers citizens in their choices, public authorities in their decisions and businesses in their strategies.

How will you contribute?Join us to revolutionise the quantum world with semiconductor quantum chips!
You will be part of one of the leading groups in semiconductor quantum technology, LIST’s Quantum Materials Team, led by Dr. Florian Kaiser. Our team’s ambition is to develop cost-effective semiconductor quantum technology for tomorrow’s quantum internet and quantum computers.
As a software engineer, you will help us to streamline our diverse efforts on a variety of experimental setups, which includes:
Creation of hardware-related software tools for experiment control using Python. You will establish a reliable software framework for the use of experimental equipment such as configurable data acquisition cards, microwave synthesisers, arbitrary waveform generators, lasers, single-photon detectors, cameras, and light modulators.
Development of creative and innovative automation software for high-throughput quantum-hardware preselection and characterisation using image recognition and machine learning tools. As R&D institution we are highly interested to disseminate innovative solutions in scientific publications, as well as filing patents.
Support for the team in all programming tasks to create maintainable and documented software solutions.
In the framework of controlling small quantum computers and memories, we anticipate the development of high-speed event-driven decision making, likely to require the use of FPGAs or CPLD based hardware.
In the framework of setting up the Luxembourgish Quantum Internet, we anticipate collaborative efforts with LIST’s ITIS department, as well as the SnT department of the University of Luxembourg.
Overall, your software support will stand as a fundamental cornerstone in the realisation of cost-effective semiconductor quantum technologies that will be used in the field in the near future.
