We are seeking an Integrated Photonics Intern in our Albuquerque, NM, location.

Key Responsibilities:- Work with a diverse team, including atomic physicists, engineers, and fabrication experts, to innovate for trapped ion quantum computers
- Design, test, and measure integrated photonic components for trapped ion quantum computers
- Validate and apply techniques for photonic chip packaging subject to unique technological constraints
- Analyze and present results to teammates and across the company
YOU MUST HAVE:- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program
- Graduating on/after 2026
- Minimum 2+ academic years in physics, optics, and/or engineering coursework at the university level
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:- Hands-on experimental experience in an optics or photonics laboratory
- Experience, through course-work or a research project, with photonic integrated circuit design, test, and/or packaging
- Experience with general experimental techniques and equipment, and data acquisition and analysis
- Programming experience such as Python
- 1.5+ part-time academic years or 2 full-time summers of research experience in integrated photonics or a closely related research lab during an undergraduate program preferred
- 1+ years research experience at the graduate level preferred
- Modeling and/or simulation experience in an optical waveguide context
- Experience with optics and/or photonics modeling software such as Comsol, Lumerical, RSoft, or Zemax in a course and/or research lab
