About the Job:
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented UI/UX Design Intern to help modernize the user interface of our Wafer Test Software. This is a unique opportunity to apply modern design principles to a complex engineering application and improve usability for semiconductor test engineers worldwide.
About the Team:
You will be working in a team with a product owner and developers to improve the user interaction or user experience but will also clarify the requirements and enhancements with the product management team.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze the current Keysight Technologies Wafer Test Software UI/UX and identify usability issues and design inconsistencies.
- Apply established UI/UX principles such as:
- Consistency and Standards (Nielsen’s Heuristics)
- User Control and Freedom
- Recognition over Recall
- Aesthetic and Minimalist Design
- Progressive Disclosure
- Accessibility and Inclusivity
- Mobile-first and Responsive Design (where applicable)
- Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using available tools.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions.
- Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders to align design with technical constraints and user needs.
- Help define a scalable design system for the software to ensure consistency across modules.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a graduate or a masters program in UI/UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of the basic principles of good UI/UX design, including layout, typography, color theory, and interaction design.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar.
- Familiarity with user research methods and usability testing.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Bonus: Interest or experience in designing technical or engineering software.
- Experience with complex desktop applications or enterprise software.
- Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) is a plus.
