The Center for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CTP PAS) in Warsaw invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to join the newly established Neutral Atoms Applications theory group at the Center for Quantum-Enabled Computing (C4QEC), led by Dr. Piotr T. Grochowski.
Our research focuses on developing theoretical and numerical methods for modelling and controlling programmable quantum systems, particularly neutral atoms in optical tweezers and Rydberg arrays.
Research topics include:
Quantum control and quantum state engineering
Neutral atoms, optical tweezers, and Rydberg arrays
Quantum simulation and many-body dynamics
Quantum optics and quantum information
Quantum sensing and hybrid quantum systems
The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop their own research directions within the group's broader scientific agenda, collaborate with experimental and theoretical groups, and contribute to the supervision of PhD and undergraduate students.
We offer:
A full-time postdoctoral position, initially for one year, with the possibility of extension until the end of 2029, subject to satisfactory performance
Salary: 12,980–14,660 PLN gross/month (full-time employment contract, including social security and health insurance)
Funding for conference participation and research visits
Access to computational resources and an international research environment
Flexible working hours and hybrid work arrangements
Requirements: A PhD in physics or a related discipline, and a strong background in quantum optics, atomic physics, quantum information, quantum control, open quantum systems, or many-body physics. Experience in analytical or numerical modelling is an advantage.
The PhD must normally have been awarded no earlier than 2021, with extensions possible for eligible career interruptions, as described in the full announcement.
Application deadline: 8 November 2026
