About The Role
At SandboxAQ, we operate at the cutting edge of AI/ML and quantum technologies. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be a leader providing deep, hands-on technical support to our development teams, ensuring they have the tools, infrastructure, and guidance to succeed. You will be responsible for driving excellence in development processes, leading infrastructure initiatives, and supporting teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. This is a senior position where technical acumen and hands-on mentorship are paramount to success.
Core Responsibilities
- Developer Support: Provide and deliver deep, hands-on technical support to developers, acting as a trusted advisor to help optimize workflows, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve development practices
- Infrastructure Architecture: Architect and maintain scalable infrastructure and development tools to support SandboxAQ’s initiatives
- Tooling: Build and deploy development tools, automate CI/CD pipelines, and streamline release processes to enhance efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- Automation: Automate and streamline release and development processes, ensuring efficiency and scalability
- Collaboration: Collaborate with Devops, IT, and InfoSec teams to leverage technology effectively while enhancing security and performance
- Excellence and Reliability: Drive a culture of excellence by ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
- Strategic Impact: Provide strategic direction to engineering leadership, contributing to long-term infrastructure planning and vision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior DevOps engineer, or in a senior engineering role, with a focus on deep, hands-on developer support in complex environments.
- Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), including designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable systems
- Expertise in Git, GitHub workflows, Bazel, CircleCI, CI/CD automation, and efficient release pipelines
- Expertise in Linux systems, containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, and experience integrating them into development processes
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset for working across cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- You’re located within the western half of the USA, or are willing to work Pacific Time hours.
- Experience in supporting both traditional software development and machine learning/data science environments
- Proven ability to manage regulated data and ensure security and compliance
- In-depth understanding of cloud and network topologies with hands on experience using tools as Tailscale, Sumologic, etc. to support highly distributed systems
- Experience with observability and incident management tools such as Datadog, PagerDuty, etc.
- Experience with deploying CI/CD pipelines across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
The US base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be $150k - $215k per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This role may be eligible for annual discretionary bonuses and equity.
