About
To whom it may concern,
I am currently a Master’s student in Quantum Sciences and Engineering at EPFL, and I am seeking an industrial internship, potentially combined with my Master’s thesis.
My academic background combines a strong focus on quantum information devices with solid skills in data analysis and modelling. During my studies at Mines Nancy, I received a strong coursework exposure to machine learning and statistics.
Through my specialization in Quantum Hardware Engineering at EPFL, I have developed a solid understanding of classical and quantum metrology. I also have exposure to quantum computing theory and quantum computational devices through dedicated coursework and laboratory project.
From an experimental perspective, I have carried out electrical and optical characterisation of classical devices during laboratory courses. I also have hands-on experience with standard laboratory instrumentation, including multimeters and oscilloscopes, and I am confident in my ability to quickly refresh and extend these skills in a laboratory environment. Moreover, I have already practiced exfoliations.
Through various laboratory and academic projects, I have learned to adapt to a wide range of technical contexts. These include numerical simulations on graphene Dirac points under polarized light with Professor Gregor Jotzu, hands-on device fabrication work with Professor Mitali Banerjee, and a purely theoretical project on quantum controllability with Professor Alessandro Duca. These experiences strengthened my ability to work across experimental, numerical, and theoretical domains. In particular, the numerical simulations required me to quickly learn and apply the QuTiP Python framework, reinforcing my ability to efficiently acquire new technical skills.
I also completed an engineering internship at the CEA, where I developed and validated numerical models in MATLAB. This work was carried out within a multidisciplinary engineering team in an industrial R&D environment, following an iterative development process. I also produced technical documentation with a strong emphasis on rigor and reliability.
Please find my CV attached. I would be happy to provide any additional information and to further discuss my profile and my application.
Yours sincerely,
Sébastien Morizot
