Join Our Mission
At Quantagonia, our founders have built and scaled successful companies, including achieving Unicorn status. But throughout their journey, they saw a recurring problem: businesses struggle to solve their most pressing planning challenges because optimization has always been too complex and out of reach. At Quantagonia, we change this with DecisionAI and its deeply integrated HybridSolver as a compute engine.
We're looking for a dedicated and passionate quantum algorithm engineer to join us, working on a topic with long-term high impact. We have extensive experience in optimization and developed a solver with already strong performance in the classical domain (check for reference). In your role, you will help shape what the future of quantum optimization with early fault-tolerant hardware could look like and what the limits are.
Join our dynamic team and make a difference in a fast-paced startup focused on bringing advanced optimization and AI to the world. If you enjoy working on challenging problems and taking responsibility, you're exactly who we're looking for!
Please note: You must be an EU citizen or have work authorization for the EU to be eligible for this position.
Tasks
- Be a flexible, effective team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to think creatively.
- Identify, rank, and implement promising early-fault-tolerant (FT) quantum heuristics for combinatorial optimization and assess their hardware-resource requirements.
- Benchmark quantum-versus-classical performance and define how the selected heuristics will be integrated into hybrid workflows (e.g., decomposition, warm-start, orchestration).
- Document results, collaborate with academic and hardware partners, and help turn breakthroughs into publishable or patent-worthy IP.
Requirements
- MSc/PhD in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related field involving quantum computing and software engineering.
- Deep knowledge of quantum-algorithm building blocks for optimization (e.g. QAOA, QITE), familiarity with QLDPC error-correction concepts is a plus.
- Hands-on experience designing, compiling, and resource-estimating quantum circuits for gate-based hardware.
- Proficiency in Python and leading quantum SDKs (e.g., Qiskit) and a strong emphasis on code quality and CI/CD best practices.
- Strong communication skills, team-oriented with a sense of ownership, and a strong emphasis on code quality.
Benefits
- Real Impact: Work directly with founders and see your contributions drive tangible results.
- Learn and Grow: Gain first-hand insights into building and scaling a business.
- Career Boost: Develop skills and experiences that open doors to future opportunities.
- On-Site Perks: All-inclusive office setup in Frankfurt or Munich with some flexibility for remote work.
- Stay Healthy: Access to health and sports memberships.
- Team Spirit: Enjoy regular team events and offsites.
