Qubit Pharmaceuticals is a French-American deeptech startup, focusing on discovering novel molecules for complex targets in healthcare and materials science. We leverage proprietary molecular simulation and quantum-physics based modeling technology to develop our own discovery programs that we either co-develop with or license out to pharmaceutical and industrial partners. This enables us to design more effective and safer drug candidates, aiming to significantly reduce the time and investment needed for discovery. In just 18 months, Qubit Pharmaceuticals grew its portfolio to 7 programs in oncology, immunology & antivirals.
Our cutting-edge technology is based on over 30 years of research by our academic founders, and relies on three main components: in-depth expertise in computational science and high-performance computing (HPC), quantum chemistry and artificial intelligence algorithms, and a powerful, automated cloud platform for molecular simulation with chemical accuracy. We recently announced the launch of the world's most powerful AI foundation model for molecular simulation.

TECHNICAL & MARKET ANALYSIS | Appended by Quantum.Jobs
BLOCK 1 — EXECUTIVE SNAPSHOT
This executive function represents a critical junction in the quantum application layer for the life sciences. The Head of Quantum Computing is tasked with translating theoretical quantum computational chemistry advances into scalable, proprietary drug discovery pipelines that address classically intractable molecular simulation challenges. The successful execution of this mandate directly influences Qubit Pharmaceuticals' capacity to achieve computational advantage, accelerating the time-to-market for novel therapeutic candidates by circumventing computational bottlenecks inherent in current high-performance computing (HPC) methodologies.
BLOCK 2 — INDUSTRY & ECOSYSTEM ANALYSIS
The role operates within the emergent Quantum Computational Chemistry sector, a high-value segment of the quantum computing market. While quantum hardware fidelity remains a primary technology readiness constraint—placing the industry firmly in the Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) era—the primary commercial value currently resides in algorithmic development and application layer abstraction that optimizes circuit execution on current and near-term devices. The fundamental market bottleneck this role confronts is the exponential scaling difficulty of classical Density Functional Theory (DFT) or coupled-cluster methods for large, complex molecular systems, which is currently restricting the scope of *in silico* drug design. This scaling problem dictates the necessity for quantum-native algorithms (like VQE or advanced phase estimation) to achieve the necessary chemical accuracy for properties such as binding affinity and stability prediction, thereby unlocking a multi-billion dollar opportunity in pre-clinical R\&D. Qubit Pharmaceuticals’ strategic position is reinforced by their hybrid HPC-QC model, leveraging quantum simulation capabilities and the recently announced AI foundation model to bypass immediate hardware limitations while building quantum readiness. The successful candidate must navigate a complex vendor landscape, integrating cloud-based quantum-as-a-service providers and ensuring the proprietary software stack maintains hardware agnosticism to manage the inherent risks of platform competition and qubit instability. Furthermore, a substantial workforce gap exists between theoretical quantum chemists and application-focused quantum software engineers, making the team management and recruitment aspect of this role a key factor in future intellectual property generation.
BLOCK 3 — TECHNICAL SKILL ARCHITECTURE
The required expertise transcends academic proficiency in theoretical quantum chemistry, demanding a deep understanding of full-stack quantum algorithm engineering designed for noisy environments. The ability to develop novel quantum computing methods enables throughput by specifically targeting drug discovery processes with unfavorable classical scaling, essentially serving as a computational gatekeeper for high-impact R\&D. Mastery of quantum cloud platforms is crucial for deployment, resource allocation optimization, and benchmark testing across varied qubit modalities (e.g., superconducting, trapped ion, neutral atom). Furthermore, the leadership capability is the necessary factor for stable output, ensuring a multidisciplinary team—bridging physics, chemistry, and HPC—cohesively translates complex physical theories into robust, chemically accurate, and industrially deployable quantum applications. The outcome of these technical skills is the creation of defensible intellectual property through patent filings and peer-reviewed publications, validating the firm's quantum advantage claims.
BLOCK 4 — STRATEGIC IMPACT * Establishes the firm's quantum roadmap, setting the pace for competitive molecular simulation capability.
* Drives the strategic integration of quantum resources with existing AI and HPC infrastructure.
* Mitigates the computational risk associated with investigating large-scale molecular interactions for novel targets.
* Creates a core competency in proprietary quantum algorithms that reduces dependency on standard open-source tools.
* Accelerates the quantum technology readiness level (QTRL) within the pharmaceutical discovery value chain.
* Secures external validation of quantum advantage through high-impact scientific publications and patents.
* Builds and scales a specialized, high-demand quantum workforce focused on commercial chemistry applications.
* Forges and manages strategic research and vendor partnerships critical for accessing cutting-edge quantum hardware and expertise.
* Transforms slow, classically intractable molecular discovery steps into high-throughput quantum computation processes.
* Contributes to the reduction of overall R\&D costs and timelines for therapeutic development programs.
* Reinforces the company's position as a deep-tech leader at the confluence of quantum physics, AI, and drug development.
* Ensures technology watch and strategic pivot capability in response to rapid shifts in quantum hardware performance and algorithmic efficiency.
