- Build ecosystem leverage with integrators and research consortia.
What We Are Looking For
Hunter Mindset
- You thrive on opening new accounts and breaking into strategic institutions.
- You are comfortable operating without an existing installed base.
- You combine patience (long cycles) with relentless pipeline creation.
- You are competitive, ambitious, and execution-driven.
Experience
- 7+ years in B2B deep-tech sales (HPC, advanced infrastructure, AI compute, scientific systems, or quantum technologies).
- Proven success closing complex, high-value deals in public or research-driven ecosystems.
- Strong experience with European public procurement and large infrastructure tenders.
- Existing network within European HPC or advanced computing environments is a major plus.
Technical Fluency
You can confidently discuss:
- HPC architectures (clusters, accelerators, interconnects, cooling, integration)
- Data center constraints and infrastructure planning
- Quantum computing fundamentals
- Hybrid quantum-classical workflows
You do not need to be a physicist — but you must command technical credibility.
Soft Skills
- Executive presence and strategic storytelling ability
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to influence without authority
- High resilience and long-term drive
Why This Role Is Unique
- You will sell frontier infrastructure technology — not incremental upgrades.
- You will influence national supercomputing strategies.
- You will help define how quantum integrates into Europe’s HPC backbone.
- You will join a scale-up where your impact is visible and measurable.
Why Join Quandela
- Contribute to the deployment of photonic quantum computers within Europe’s leading HPC infrastructures.
- Shape the integration of quantum acceleration into next-generation supercomputing architectures.
- Join one of Europe’s fastest-growing quantum companies.
- Work with a passionate, multidisciplinary team bridging quantum science and infrastructure engineering.
- Competitive compensation with performance-based incentives.
TECHNICAL & MARKET ANALYSIS | Appended by Quantum.Jobs
The Senior Sales Engineer role in Quantum and HPC Infrastructure represents a critical bridge in the transition from experimental physics to large-scale industrial deployment. As national and regional supercomputing centers move toward post-exascale architectures, the integration of quantum processing units becomes a strategic necessity for maintaining computational sovereignty. This role type addresses the current technology readiness level gap by translating complex hardware specifications into viable infrastructure roadmaps for research and enterprise stakeholders. Market signals, including the rise of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and various national quantum initiatives, underscore a growing demand for expertise capable of navigating complex procurement cycles. Consequently, these professionals act as key catalysts in the formation of hybrid classical-quantum ecosystems, ensuring that nascent hardware provides measurable system-level advantages. Their presence in the value chain is essential for the commercialization of deep-tech solutions that would otherwise remain confined to academic laboratory environments.
The quantum computing sector is currently undergoing a structural shift from standalone laboratory demonstrations to integration within the broader High-Performance Computing (HPC) value chain. This evolution is driven by the realization that near-term quantum advantage is likely to manifest through hybrid workflows where quantum processing units function as specialized accelerators alongside classical CPUs and GPUs. This transition creates a significant macro-level constraint: the need for a specialized workforce that understands both the physics of quantum information and the operational realities of data center infrastructure.
Vendor fragmentation and the lack of standardized interfaces between quantum and classical systems present major hurdles for large-scale adoption. Organizations such as EuroHPC are increasingly focusing on the procurement of quantum-ready systems to de-risk national technology roadmaps, yet the integration complexity remains high. This necessitates a role that can navigate the nuances of public tender processes and scientific computing requirements while aligning with broader geopolitical goals like digital sovereignty.
Furthermore, the ecosystem faces a technology readiness mismatch where hardware capability often precedes the availability of robust middleware and application layers. Solving this requires deep coordination between hardware providers, research institutions, and end-users. The success of these initiatives depends on the ability to translate scientific potential into infrastructure-scale business impact, particularly in sectors like material science, cryptography, and optimization. As public funding cycles become more focused on practical utility, the role of strategic technical enablement becomes the primary mechanism for moving the market toward maturity. Without this alignment, the risk of a "quantum winter" persists, as stakeholders require clear evidence of scalability and interoperability to justify multi-year capital expenditures.
The capability architecture for this role type centers on the intersection of advanced photonic systems, HPC interconnects, and complex procurement governance. Mastery of photonic architectures is fundamental for explaining the advantages of room-temperature operation and fiber-optic compatibility within existing data center footprints. These professionals must navigate the tooling layers of the quantum stack, from low-level control electronics to high-level software development kits that facilitate hybrid algorithm execution.
Expertise in HPC networking, including InfiniBand and Ethernet-based fabrics, is critical for ensuring that quantum-classical data exchange does not become a system-level bottleneck. Understanding power, cooling, and spatial constraints is equally vital for the physical integration of hardware into exascale environments. Furthermore, navigating the multi-stakeholder landscape of ministries, technical committees, and research consortia requires a deep understanding of European public funding mechanisms and technology sovereignty policies. These capabilities are not merely tactical; they provide the structural leverage needed to reduce integration friction and accelerate the adoption of fault-tolerant systems. By bridging the gap between hardware engineering and systems administration, this role type ensures that quantum technologies are not just performant, but also deployable and scalable. - Accelerates the integration of photonic quantum processing units into national supercomputing infrastructures
- Facilitates the transition toward sovereign post-exascale computing capabilities across European research networks
- Reduces the adoption barriers for hybrid quantum-classical workflows in enterprise and academic settings
- Optimizes the alignment between hardware development and large-scale public procurement roadmaps
- Strengthens the commercial viability of photonic quantum systems via strategic ecosystem coordination
- Drives the standardization of interface protocols between hardware and classical clusters
- Enhances the credibility of hardware manufacturers within the global deep-tech investment landscape
- Mitigates the risks associated with multi-year infrastructure deployment cycles for emerging technologies
- Expands the footprint of quantum-ready data centers through consultative technical enablement
- Supports the development of national technology strategies by providing infrastructure-level expertise
- Shortens the feedback loop between end-user requirements and fundamental hardware engineering teams
- Catalyzes the formation of research-driven consortia focused on practical quantum advantageIndustry Tags: Quantum Computing, HPC Infrastructure, Photonic Quantum Technology, Deep Tech Sales, Supercomputing Ecosystem, Hybrid Quantum-Classical, European Public Procurement, Technology Sovereignty, QPU Integration
